Counterflow Cooling System

Ronning’s Counterflow Cooling and Conditioning Drum effectively reduces ingredient temperature, assures uniform moisture levels and decreases the workload on upstream dehydration processes.

Ingredients exiting the dryer are conveyed against ambient or conditioned air flow inside a rotating drum, achieving finished moisture content targets through evaporative cooling. Finished product typically exits the drum within 6 to 10 deg. F of ambient temperature, a distinctive feature of Ronning Cooling Drum models designed since 2006.

The Cooling System buffers downstream conveying systems from production surges and can be used for regulated feed to a downstream process, such as cubing or pelleting. The Cooling Drum also provides an optimal location for application of additional minerals, nutrients, binders and preservatives.
